सत्यमोहन जोशीले अपनी उच्चतम शिक्षा भर्सिट विश्वविद्यालयको पाठ्यक्रममा पूर्ण गर्नुभयो। उनले बाराणस्से विश्वविद्यालयबाट पाण्डितको उपाधि प्राप्त गर्नुभयो। उनको पढाई अन्तर्गत मुख्यतः संस्कृत भाषा र साहित्यिक अध्ययनमा थियो।

सत्यमोहन जोशीले नेपालका एक प्रमुख साहित्यिक रचनाहरूका लेखकको रूपमा महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान गरेका हुन्। उनका कविताहरू, नाटकहरू, गद्यहरू, लेखहरू र निबन्धहरू प्रमुख हुन्। उहाँका काव्य संग्रह 'धर्मको बास्तविकता', 'विष्णुक्रान्ति', 'चिनारी' र 'नयाँ पत्रिका' प्रसिद्ध हुन
साहित्यिक क्षेत्रमा माथिल्लो संरक्षित गर्नुहुने पुरस्कारलाई सत्यमोहन जोशीले प्राप्त गरेका हुन्। उहाँलाई 'सहित्य सभाका लागि नेपालका जीवित लेखक' मानिने गरिएको छ।

जोशीले नेपाली भाषाको महत्त्वलाई प्रमुखता दिइ आफ्नो साहित्यिक रचनाहरूमार्फत जनमानसबाट प्रशंसा पाएका हुन्। उहाँले नेपाली भाषाको संरक्षण, विकास र प्रचारका लागि असल साहित्यिक संगठनलाई स्थापना गरेका छन्।
